February 09, 2019
What’s a Thanksgiving dinner without a turkey? For a few Cedar Rapids families, that is a worry they did not have to face this holiday season.
The ROC Center partnered with Snack Impact, a local nonprofit, to distribute turkey dinners to families in need. More than 50 families received a dinner. In addition, more than 60 people visiting the ROC center on Thanksgiving Day to enjoy a traditional day to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving lunch for free. Snack Impact is a local nonprofit that helps address food insecurity and focuses on the Oakhill Jackson neighborhood. The president, Brandon Prince, started the organization in response to violence taking place in Cedar Rapids.
